Hon. Joseph J. DioGuardi
Honorary Co-Chair
Hon. Joseph J. DioGuardi is a former Member of the United States Congress, the first practicing Certified Public Accountant elected to Congress, and the longtime President of the Albanian American Civic League and Foundation.
For more than three decades, Congressman DioGuardi has been one of the most influential advocates for Albanian rights and Kosovo's freedom in Washington. His leadership helped elevate Kosovo's cause before the United States Congress and successive American administrations, contributing significantly to international awareness of the plight of the Albanian people in Kosovo.
His unwavering commitment to freedom, democracy, human rights, and fiscal accountability continues to inspire generations of leaders in both the United States and Kosovo.
Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi
Honorary Co-Chair
Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi is a respected Balkan affairs expert, policy adviser, author, and longtime advocate for human rights and democracy in Southeast Europe.
For decades, she has worked alongside Congressman DioGuardi, as AACL’s Balkans Affairs Adviser and Executive Director of the Albanian American Foundation, in advancing awareness of Kosovo and Albanian issues among policymakers, diplomats, academics, and international organizations. Her expertise and advocacy have contributed significantly to strengthening understanding of Kosovo's aspirations for freedom, democracy, and self-determination.
Her continued engagement remains an important bridge between Kosovo and the United States.

Faton Tony Bislimi
Founder & Project Director
Faton Tony Bislimi is the Founder and Project Director of America Inspires Freedom: The Kosovo Story.
Born and raised in Kosovo, he experienced firsthand the challenges of life under oppression and the transformative impact of American leadership during Kosovo's journey to freedom. Over the past two decades, he has worked extensively to strengthen Kosovo–United States relations through public policy, education, advocacy, and civic engagement.
A former Member of Parliament of Kosovo and a longtime advocate in Washington, Bislimi has dedicated much of his professional life to promoting democratic values and strengthening transatlantic partnerships.
